The Chennai Police Commissionerate is taking significant steps to ensure the safety and security of the public during the Kaanum Pongal celebration in 2025. A total of 16,000 police officers and 1,500 Home Guards will be deployed across the city. Special security arrangements will be in place at Marina Beach, where temporary mini control rooms will be set up to monitor crowds. In addition to the control rooms, seven service roads around the beach will feature police assistance centers, ensuring immediate help for visitors.
One of the key safety features will be the provision of wrist ID bands for children. These wristbands are designed to prevent children from getting lost in the massive crowds, providing parents with peace of mind. Police officers will be assigned to specific areas, maintaining constant vigilance to address any emergencies swiftly.
