Recognizing the vital role of tourism in Sikkim’s economy, the Sikkim Police has implemented several initiatives to ensure the safety and security of tourists. On January 16th, the police launched a dedicated tourist helpline to provide immediate assistance to tourists in distress. The helpline is staffed by multilingual personnel who can provide information, address concerns, and coordinate emergency response.

The police also conducted a series of awareness campaigns among local businesses and communities to sensitize them towards the needs and concerns of tourists. On January 17th, the police conducted a special drive to prevent crimes against tourists, such as petty theft and fraud. Increased police presence was observed at popular tourist destinations, and plainclothes officers were deployed to keep a watchful eye on tourist hotspots. These measures aim to create a safe and welcoming environment for tourists visiting Sikkim.
