To tackle the rising issue of smuggling, Sikkim Police have established a special task force aimed at intercepting illicit goods and preventing cross-border smuggling operations. This task force, comprised of highly trained officers, will focus on curbing the illegal movement of goods such as drugs, wildlife products, and counterfeit currency, which have been making their way through the state’s porous borders.
In addition to enhancing border surveillance, the task force will also conduct intelligence gathering and collaborate with other regional law enforcement agencies to coordinate efforts. The government has pledged full support to this initiative, providing the police with the necessary resources and training to strengthen Sikkim’s role in regional security. The task force aims to ensure that Sikkim remains a safe and secure state free from illegal activities.
