Given Sikkim’s strategic location bordering Nepal and China, the Sikkim Police has been actively enhancing border security measures. On January 16th, the police conducted a series of joint patrols with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) along the sensitive border areas. These patrols aimed to strengthen surveillance, prevent illegal infiltration, and curb smuggling activities.
The police also utilized advanced surveillance technology, including drones and thermal imaging devices, to monitor border movements and identify any potential security threats. On January 17th, the police conducted a sensitization program for local communities residing near the border, educating them about the potential dangers of illegal border crossings and the importance of reporting any suspicious activities. These proactive measures demonstrate the Sikkim Police’s commitment to safeguarding the state’s borders and maintaining national security.
