Jharkhand Police launched a state-wide crackdown on illegal opium cultivation, destroying over 100 acres of crops in just ten days. The operation, led under the directives of DGP Anurag Gupta, targeted high-opium-yield areas, particularly Khunti district, where 44 acres of opium were eradicated in five days. These actions reflect the state’s commitment to combating the growing menace of drug-related activities.
DGP Gupta issued strict warnings against any police personnel suspected of collusion with opium smugglers. The operation received praise from local communities, who highlighted the adverse effects of drug cultivation on societal health and safety. This concerted effort is expected to significantly disrupt the drug supply chain in Jharkhand.
