Bihar saw a significant improvement in public safety, with crime rates showing a substantial decrease. The total number of reported crime cases fell dramatically from 1,33,239 in 2021 to 49,966 in 2024. This represents a more than 60% reduction in overall crime cases, signaling the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts. The crime rate per lakh population also decreased significantly, from 379 to 139.2, which is a positive indicator of the state’s security environment.

Furthermore, crimes against women and SC/ST communities saw a noticeable drop, reflecting improved protective measures and proactive police action. The improvement is largely attributed to increased community engagement, better law enforcement, and stricter legal actions. Bihar Police’s commitment to improving safety and reducing crime continues to show results, making the state safer for its citizens.
