Assam Police reported a substantial decline in crime rates, marking a positive shift for public safety in the region. The total number of crime cases plummeted from a staggering 1,33,239 in 2021 to 49,966, a drop of more than 60%. The crime rate per lakh population also saw a significant reduction, going from 379 to 139.2. This marked decrease in crime has been attributed to a variety of law enforcement measures, improved community engagement, and stricter legal actions.

Along with a reduction in overall crime, crimes against women and SC/ST communities saw a noticeable decline. The state’s police forces worked rigorously to ensure that vulnerable communities were protected, resulting in lower numbers of violent crimes. The improvement in public safety is a testament to the commitment of Assam Police and its efforts in crime prevention and community-based policing.
