On January 13, 2025, the Z-Morh Tunnel in Sonamarg, Kashmir, was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 6.5 km tunnel, costing approximately $932 million, is part of a landmark infrastructure project aimed at transforming accessibility in the region. The tunnel ensures year-round connectivity to Sonamarg, a town previously cut off by heavy snowfall during winters. This improved connectivity is expected to bolster tourism and facilitate strategic military logistics between Kashmir and Ladakh.
