In a significant operation, Punjab Police arrested 12 individuals, including five from Jammu and Kashmir, for their involvement in a cross-border drug and weapon smuggling cartel. The arrests were made after a detailed investigation into the cartel’s activities, which led to the recovery of 2.19 kg of heroin, three sophisticated pistols, and ₹2.60 lakh in drug money. The individuals were linked to an organized network smuggling drugs and weapons into India from Pakistan, using drones to transport contraband across the border.
The kingpin of the operation, Manjeet Singh, alias Bhola, was found to be in constant communication with Pakistan-based smugglers. He and his associates coordinated shipments of drugs and weapons, which were dropped into Punjab’s border areas using drones. This operation highlights the growing concerns about the use of technology in smuggling activities and the ongoing efforts by Punjab Police to combat cross-border criminal activities.
