Punjab Police’s Cyber Crime Division has reported a staggering 82.7% increase in cybercrime cases in 2025 compared to the previous year. This surge prompted the establishment of 28 new cybercrime police stations across the state. As part of their crackdown on digital fraud, police filed 374 FIRs and arrested 64 individuals involved in a variety of cybercrimes, including financial fraud, identity theft, and hacking.
The state also launched a dedicated helpline for financial cyber fraud complaints, which saw 35,201 cases reported, with a total fraud value of ₹467.1 crores. Police were able to recover ₹73.34 crores by placing liens on fraudulent accounts.
