Wildlife trafficking remains a pressing issue in Mizoram, as it is home to various endangered species that are often targeted by illegal traders. The police have intensified their efforts to combat the illegal trade of wildlife, including tigers, elephants, and various exotic birds and reptiles. Special task forces are dedicated to investigating and intercepting wildlife smuggling rings, particularly those linked to international trade.
The police collaborate with environmental agencies, wildlife NGOs, and border security forces to track and dismantle these illegal trade networks. Awareness campaigns are also conducted to educate the local population about the importance of protecting wildlife. Through increased surveillance, stricter regulations, and public outreach, the Mizoram Police aim to protect the state’s rich biodiversity.
