In a progressive move, Gujarat Police has launched ‘Santvana Kendra’ (Consolation Centers) in every police station across the state. This initiative focuses on providing sensitive, compassionate, and empathetic assistance to vulnerable groups, including women, children, and senior citizens.

These centers are equipped with trained officers and social workers to offer counseling services, legal guidance, and a safe space for individuals in need. The centers integrate various services, including the Women’s Help Desk, Child Welfare Officers, and the 181-Abhayam emergency helpline, under one roof. The goal of this initiative is to create an environment where people can seek help without fear of stigma or indifference.

The introduction of ‘Santvana Kendra’ signifies a shift in how law enforcement addresses sensitive issues such as domestic violence, child abuse, and the rights of senior citizens. By making these services available at every police station, Gujarat aims to strengthen community trust in law enforcement and provide holistic support to those in need. The initiative also reflects a broader national trend toward incorporating empathy and social welfare into police operations.
