Mizoram has become a hotspot for drug trafficking due to its proximity to Myanmar, a major source of illicit drugs like heroin and methamphetamine. The police have been at the forefront of combating the smuggling of narcotics into the state, conducting regular raids and intercepting drug shipments. Through intelligence gathering, the police have dismantled several trafficking networks operating across the borders, seizing large quantities of drugs.
In addition to traditional law enforcement methods, the police are working on awareness campaigns targeting communities at risk of addiction. They collaborate with local health agencies to provide rehabilitation services for drug users, helping reintegrate them into society. The Mizoram Police also work with the neighboring state’s law enforcement to curb the transnational drug trade.
