In the past three years, Tripura Police have been rigorously working towards reducing crime in the state. A comprehensive strategy led to the identification and targeting of nearly 3 lakh anti-social elements, which include criminals involved in organized crime, border touts, and drug trafficking networks. The state has reported a surge in arrests and actions against those involved in smuggling, illegal immigration, and drug distribution. The Director General of Police also stated that there had been an almost tenfold increase in the arrests of border touts, underscoring the dedication to curbing cross-border criminal activities.
In addition to targeting criminal organizations, Tripura’s law enforcement has been particularly vigilant about the high rate of narcotic seizures. The state’s efforts in curbing drug trafficking have been recognized as a significant achievement, with Tripura being one of the top performers in Northeast India regarding narcotics enforcement. As the police continue to make strides, public safety and crime reduction remain central goals.
