The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) is the second-highest-ranking officer in the Telangana Police hierarchy. Reporting directly to the Director General of Police (DGP), the ADGP is responsible for managing specific departments or zones across the state, ensuring their smooth functioning. Departments under their supervision may include Law and Order, Crime Investigation, Cybercrime, and Traffic.

In Telangana, the ADGP plays a crucial role in formulating and implementing strategies to combat emerging challenges like organized crime, cybercrimes, and urban safety issues. They act as an advisor to the DGP, providing insights and solutions based on ground realities. For example, during large-scale public events in cities like Hyderabad or state-level festivals, the ADGP coordinates with district police units to ensure seamless operations.

The ADGP also oversees the welfare and training of police personnel, ensuring they are equipped with modern skills and techniques. By bridging the gap between strategic planning and ground-level execution, the ADGP ensures that the state’s law enforcement remains proactive and effective in addressing complex security issues.
