On January 8, 2025, a significant land dispute unfolded near the Bishramganj District Superintendent’s Office in Nonjala Bash Tali village, Tripura. The issue revolved around the allocation of 13.6 acres of land for the Sepahijala District Hospital. Local residents strongly opposed the acquisition, citing concerns about the inclusion of their rubber plantations in the proposed hospital site. The dispute escalated as villagers voiced their discontent, fearing loss of livelihood due to the land acquisition. This led to a standoff between the local population and the authorities, which lasted for more than three hours.

In response to the escalating situation, the police from the Bishramganj Police Station intervened, attempting to calm the agitated crowd. The confrontation highlighted the challenges faced by the government in implementing large infrastructure projects when local communities are directly impacted. As tensions continued to rise, the authorities called for peaceful negotiations to resolve the issue. The dispute over land for the hospital serves as a reminder of the complex socio-economic issues surrounding development projects in rural areas. The outcome of this conflict will have significant implications for both the future of the hospital project and the local community
