On January 8, 2025, Delhi Police uncovered a juvenile ring involved in stealing expensive smartphones. The group, comprising several minors, was reportedly enticed with ₹3,000 per theft. Their operations targeted busy shopping areas, where they would discreetly snatch high-end devices from unsuspecting individuals. They used trains to travel to Delhi without tickets and engaged in these thefts, after which they would hand over the stolen smartphones to their handler, Shiva, in Jharkhand.
The police’s swift action led to the arrest of the juveniles, while their handler is still at large. This operation sheds light on the rise of organized juvenile gangs involved in petty thefts and the methods they use to carry out their crimes. Authorities are continuing the investigation to break the chain of operations and prevent further criminal activities, urging citizens to be cautious in crowded spaces.
