Maharashtra Police have successfully arrested 16 Bangladeshi nationals who were residing illegally across various districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Nanded, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
The arrests were conducted as part of a targeted operation led by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), in collaboration with local police. During the operation, authorities seized forged documents that facilitated their unlawful stay in India.
The accused individuals were caught with fraudulent identity papers that were being used to bypass immigration laws. Maharashtra police have filed charges against the suspects under the Foreigners Act and other relevant sections of Indian law.
Investigations are ongoing to identify any potential networks aiding illegal immigrants in Maharashtra. This operation is part of the larger effort by law enforcement agencies to enhance border security and combat illegal immigration.
