In a tragic incident in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh, a 27-year-old man, Rahul Ahirwar, was killed in a hit-and-run accident. The situation became even more distressing when the body was left on the road for over four hours due to a jurisdiction dispute between the Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh police forces. Rahul, who was en route to Delhi for work, was struck by a speeding vehicle.
After initial delays caused by the back-and-forth between the two states, the Madhya Pradesh police eventually took charge of the situation, sent the body for autopsy, and initiated an investigation into the accident.
This incident raises concerns about the coordination between states in handling accidents that cross state borders, and authorities are now urging for improved inter-state communication protocols to prevent similar delays in the future.
The delay in transferring the body for post-mortem raised several public questions about jurisdictional challenges and the efficiency of police operations at the state border. Police forces from both sides have vowed to streamline such procedures, ensuring that timely action is taken in the future. Rahul’s family is left in anguish as they await answers, and the case remains under investigation.
