The Hyderabad Police has intensified efforts to curb the illegal sale of banned Chinese manja, a synthetic kite string known for its hazardous effects on people, animals, and the environment. The Mangalhat police have been actively conducting operations for the past 20 days, seizing large quantities of the prohibited material and booking multiple offenders.
Chinese manja, coated with synthetic materials and glass, is notorious for causing severe injuries during kite flying, particularly during festive seasons. Its use is strictly prohibited under environmental laws due to its non-biodegradable nature and the risk it poses to birds and humans.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid using banned kite strings and report any sale or distribution of Chinese manja. The Hyderabad Police also warned of strict legal action against violators to ensure public safety during the upcoming kite-flying festivities.
This proactive measure highlights the police’s commitment to enforcing safety regulations and protecting lives from avoidable dangers.
