In a major breakthrough, the Bhopal Police, in collaboration with the Income Tax (IT) Department, seized a significant amount of gold and cash from an abandoned car near the Mendori-Kushalpur road under the jurisdiction of the Ratibad police station. A total of 52 kg of gold and ₹9 crore in cash were found hidden in the vehicle, leading authorities to believe it may be part of a larger money laundering and smuggling operation.
The authorities stumbled upon the vehicle after receiving a tip-off, and upon inspection, they discovered the massive haul concealed in multiple bags. The gold and cash are believed to be connected to illegal activities, although the exact details of the operation remain unclear. The vehicle was abandoned by the suspects, who are yet to be identified.
The seizure has raised questions about the growing concerns of smuggling and money laundering in the region, especially regarding the movement of large sums of illicit funds. Police and IT officials are working together to trace the origin of the contraband and identify the parties involved in the transaction.
Officials believe that this is one of the largest seizures of gold and cash in recent months and that it could have far-reaching implications for criminal investigations in the area. The authorities are closely monitoring the developments and continuing their probe into the matter.
As of now, no arrests have been made, but investigations are ongoing. The police are analyzing the vehicle’s registration details and working on gathering more information to track down those responsible for the illegal operation.
