A distressing incident unfolded at the SSP office in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, when a man set himself on fire, alleging police harassment on January 1. The man, identified as Mahesh Kumar, claimed he had been a victim of false accusations and repeated police intimidation. In his suicide note, he alleged that despite repeated pleas for justice, police officers had failed to act on his grievances.
“I was left with no choice but to take this extreme step,” his note read. However, the Budaun Police have denied the allegations, stating that there was no record of any harassment or unjust actions against the deceased. A full investigation is underway to ascertain the facts.
