Bhubaneswar experienced a significant rise in cybercrime cases in 2024, with a staggering 7,263 incidents reported. According to Bhubaneswar Police, this increase is largely attributed to the growing use of digital platforms, online banking frauds, and social media scams. Cyber experts warn that as more people rely on technology for financial transactions and personal communications, cybercriminals are becoming more sophisticated in exploiting vulnerabilities.

“We are facing a new wave of cybercriminal activities, including phishing, online fraud, and data breaches,” said the Bhubaneswar Police spokesperson. Authorities have urged residents to stay vigilant, use secure practices online, and report any suspicious activities. Efforts are underway to enhance cybersecurity measures, but experts emphasize that community awareness remains key in combating cybercrime.
