In preparation for the New Year celebrations, the Hyderabad Police initiated a robust “Drunk and Drive” campaign aimed at preventing drunk driving and ensuring road safety during the festive season. The police department ramped up its efforts with a strategic increase in the number of checkpoints across the city, particularly in high-traffic areas and near popular gathering spots.

The campaign also included public awareness initiatives aimed at educating residents about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. Through posters, social media campaigns, and public announcements, the police emphasized the importance of making responsible decisions, such as opting for designated drivers or using public transportation.

The increased vigilance by the Hyderabad Police was designed to deter offenders by sending a clear message that those caught driving under the influence would face stringent consequences. The police utilized breathalyzer tests at checkpoints to detect drunk drivers swiftly. Additionally, vehicles found with impaired drivers were immediately stopped, and their drivers were arrested and fined.

The campaign received positive feedback from the public, as it helped reduce the number of accidents during the New Year celebrations. Police officials expressed confidence that such initiatives would continue to keep the roads safer throughout the year.
