In the aftermath of a reported sexual assault on a student at Anna University, Tamil Nadu Police are investigating a potential breach of confidentiality involving the access of the First Information Report (FIR) through the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS).

The police are scrutinizing 14 individuals, including journalists, who allegedly accessed the FIR without proper authorization. The breach, which could compromise the integrity of the investigation, is being treated with utmost seriousness to ensure the confidentiality of sensitive information in such cases.

Authorities are reviewing the access logs to determine how the FIR, containing vital details of the sexual assault case, was leaked and by whom. This incident has raised concerns about the security of digital systems used by law enforcement and the need for better safeguards to prevent similar breaches in the future.

Police officials have stated that they are committed to upholding transparency in the investigation while maintaining the privacy of victims and witnesses. They have also called for stricter protocols regarding the handling of sensitive case documents.
