In a significant move aimed at combating corruption, the Madhya Pradesh government has transferred 34 police personnel, including six inspectors, to the Lokayukta Police. This decision comes in the wake of a series of raids that exposed substantial unaccounted wealth amassed by several police officials.

Among the most shocking findings was the discovery of a former constable’s assets worth ₹7.98 crore. The assets included ₹2.87 crore in cash, 234 kilograms of silver, and other properties, pointing to deeply entrenched corruption within the ranks.

The Lokayukta Police, responsible for investigating corruption cases, will now handle the matter. This restructuring is seen as a critical step to restore public trust and hold law enforcement officials accountable.

The raids uncovered not just financial irregularities but also lavish lifestyles funded by these ill-gotten gains. This incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for stricter oversight of government officials, particularly those in law enforcement.

By strengthening the Lokayukta Police with these transfers, the state government aims to bolster its anti-corruption measures. Observers and citizens alike are now watching closely to see whether this move will bring tangible results in terms of transparency and accountability within the police force.
