Vadodara police seized IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) worth Rs 22 lakh and arrested three individuals following a high-intensity raid. The police were forced to open fire at a container truck attempting to evade the raid, resulting in the vehicle being intercepted near the city outskirts.

The operation was carried out based on credible intelligence that illicit liquor was being transported from neighboring states. A special team of the Vadodara police, equipped with surveillance and intelligence inputs, tracked the movement of a suspicious container truck. The vehicle was seen behaving suspiciously and attempting to evade routine police checks.

Upon halting the truck, the suspects allegedly attempted to flee, prompting the police to open fire in self-defense. The truck was subsequently intercepted, and a detailed search revealed the large cache of illegal liquor.

Three individuals, including the truck driver, were arrested during the raid. They are suspected of being part of a larger network involved in smuggling IMFL into Gujarat from neighboring states. The police have booked the accused under the relevant sections of the Gujarat Excise Act.

Authorities are conducting further investigations to identify the source and possible recipients of the seized liquor, with efforts being made to dismantle the entire smuggling network.

The seizure and arrests come as part of ongoing efforts by the Gujarat police to clamp down on the illegal liquor trade, which poses a significant threat to public health and safety. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to smuggling and illegal liquor trade.

Vadodara Police Commissioner highlighted the dangers of illegal liquor and emphasized that operations like these aim to protect public safety. The public has been urged to cooperate by providing information on such illegal activities to law enforcement.
