The Delhi Police has intensified its efforts to curb illegal immigration in the city, conducting a large-scale operation that resulted in the arrest of dozens of Bangladeshi immigrants. Over 5,000 people were checked in a series of coordinated raids across multiple locations, targeting areas known for harboring illegal settlers.

The crackdown, part of a citywide initiative to address illegal immigration, was carried out in high-density neighborhoods, industrial zones, and slums. Police teams were deployed with strict orders to verify identification documents and identify those without valid proof of residence or citizenship.

The arrested individuals were found to have entered the country through porous border points, bypassing immigration checks. Initial investigations revealed that many were employed in unregulated sectors, including construction and domestic labor, while some were allegedly involved in petty crimes.

The operation is a response to growing concerns about illegal immigration affecting law and order in the city. Delhi Police Commissioner praised the coordinated efforts of various units involved, stating, “This operation demonstrates our commitment to maintaining security and addressing unauthorized immigration. We will continue to act decisively against those violating the law.”

Delhi Police is simultaneously running community outreach programs to inform citizens about the risks of harboring illegal immigrants. Residents are being encouraged to report suspicious activities and unauthorized settlements in their areas.

Authorities are working closely with border security agencies and state governments to track the influx of illegal immigrants. Plans include deploying advanced surveillance systems at critical checkpoints and enhancing coordination with intelligence agencies to dismantle networks facilitating such movements

The arrested individuals are being processed as per legal provisions. Deportation procedures have been initiated for those identified as Bangladeshi nationals, while others are undergoing detailed scrutiny. The arrests underline the Delhi Police’s proactive approach in addressing immigration challenges and ensuring a secure environment for the city’s residents.
