Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh strongly criticized the Kuki militant groups following fresh attacks in Imphal, which left the region on edge. The Chief Minister condemned the violence, describing it as an attempt to disrupt peace and harmony in the state.
The latest incidents involved coordinated attacks targeting civilian areas, leading to property damage and several injuries. Security forces swiftly responded, engaging the attackers and securing the affected zones. Speaking to the media, N. Biren Singh accused certain militant factions of undermining the ongoing efforts toward peace and development in Manipur.
“Such acts of violence are unacceptable and will be dealt with firmly. Our government remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of every citizen in Manipur,” the Chief Minister said.
He also appealed for unity among the diverse communities in the state, emphasizing the need to reject any attempts to sow discord. Additional security measures, including intensified patrolling and monitoring, have been put in place to prevent further escalations.
The attacks come at a time when Manipur has been working towards rebuilding trust between various communities after a history of ethnic and insurgent tensions. The government has urged citizens to cooperate with security forces and report any suspicious activities.
