The East Zone Task Force team, in collaboration with Karkhana Police, apprehended a drug peddler in Hyderabad and seized 13.9 grams of MDMA valued at ₹1.78 lakh. The accused, identified as Shaik Mohammed Haneef, 31, hails from Proddatur, Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh.

Facing severe financial challenges as a cab driver, Haneef turned to his childhood friend, Chand Peer, for guidance. Chand Peer, familiar with illegal drug trade networks, suggested that Haneef procure drugs from Mumbai and sell them in Hyderabad during the peak demand season of New Year celebrations.

Following the advice, Haneef went to Mumbai and procured MDMA for ₹3,500 per gram. The drugs were purchased from two known drug peddlers, identified as Vicky and Rohit, operating out of the Goregaon area. After completing the transaction, Haneef returned to Hyderabad via a private bus and began searching for potential buyers near Dhobighat, Karkhana.

The Hyderabad police, acting on credible intelligence, launched an operation to nab the accused. Haneef was caught red-handed in possession of MDMA while attempting to sell the contraband. Upon his arrest, police seized 13.9 grams of MDMA—a potent synthetic drug popular in rave parties and celebrations.

Authorities have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigations are underway to unravel Haneef’s drug network. The police are currently pursuing leads on his associates, including Chand Peer, Vicky, and Rohit, to trace the larger supply chain and dismantle the network.

The Hyderabad police have intensified their vigilance to prevent drug-related crimes, particularly as festive celebrations approach. Officials urged citizens to report suspicious activities and help in curbing illegal drug circulation in the city.
