In Andhra Pradesh’s
Palnadu district, police have arrested a 24-year-old man, R Naga Prasad, for allegedly killing his friend, M Anjaneyulu (32), to
steal money. Both were cattle rearers from Santhamaguluru village in Bapatla district. According to police reports, Prasad, facing financial woes due to alcohol addiction and gambling losses, planned to rob Anjaneyulu. On March 7, under the guise of purchasing cattle, Prasad lured Anjaneyulu to Santhamanguluru, where they consumed alcohol.
Taking advantage of Anjaneyulu’s intoxicated state, Prasad allegedly strangled him with a rope and fled with his mobile phone and Rs 3 lakh. Anjaneyulu’s body, initially unidentified, prompted a police investigation culminating in Prasad’s arrest near Vemavaram village on July 7. Police recovered Rs 2.80 lakh, the stolen money, a two-wheeler, and the victim’s mobile phone from the accused.
