In a joint operation, the Indian Army and Manipur Police recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition in Imphal East district on Sunday. Acting on specific intelligence about arms in the fringe areas, the joint team conducted an extensive search on July 7, according to a release by the Ministry of Defence for Manipur, Nagaland, and Southern Arunachal Pradesh.
Due to the challenging terrain, an Army Explosive Detection Dog was deployed to assist the search team. The operation resulted in the recovery of significant weaponry, including a Heavy Caliber (70mm) Launcher, two 9mm Pistols, a 12 Bore-Single Barrel Gun, an Improvised Grenade Launcher, six Grenades, two Tube Launchers, and various ammunition and war-like stores. These items have been handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation.
