In response to recent incidents, Ludhiana’s Commissioner of Police, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, has issued stringent directives against hate speech targeting any religious or community sentiments. Following an attack on Shiv Sena leader Sandeep Thapar, allegedly for remarks against militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, CP Chahal emphasized zero tolerance for such actions. He warned that immediate legal action would be taken against individuals spreading hate through social, electronic, or print media.
Stressing the police’s role in maintaining law and order, Chahal assured that any form of hooliganism would face severe consequences. The cyber team is tasked with monitoring social media for offensive posts, promptly investigating complaints, and registering cases against offenders. This proactive stance follows previous actions, including the arrest of Dr. Gurinder Singh Ranghreta for derogatory remarks, reinforcing the commitment to prevent communal disharmony.
