Shri B Srinivas IPS, an alumnus of the University of Hyderabad’s Department of History, School of Social Sciences, has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Puducherry. Graduating in 1996 and completing his PhD by 2000, Shri Srinivas joined the Jammu and Kashmir Cadre in 1990 through the UPSC examination. Known for his role in revitalizing intelligence operations in Kashmir post-2010 unrest, he now assumes office at the Puducherry Police headquarters.
This appointment marks a significant milestone as he becomes the first IPS officer from the former Jammu and Kashmir cadre to lead a police force post its merger into the Union Territory cadre. Puducherry, comprising Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam, extends its congratulations and best wishes to Shri B Srinivas on his new role.
