The Jammu and Kashmir Police has introduced a specialized force comprising 960 trained personnel aimed at countering terrorism and infiltration in the
Union Territory’s border regions. This dedicated force, a first of its kind within the state police, will exclusively focus on thwarting infiltration attempts and combating terrorism. According to The Indian Express, approximately 560 of these newly trained officers are stationed along the borders of the Jammu division, while the remaining personnel are deployed in the Kashmir Valley.
This strategic deployment follows a surge in infiltration efforts by heavily armed foreign terrorists from across the border in Pakistan. The recruitment and deployment of these officers, who graduated from the Jammu and Kashmir Police Training School, emphasize their local knowledge and specialized training tailored for border security duties, as highlighted by J&K Director General of Police
R R Swain.
