A Serbian police officer guarding the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade was injured in a crossbow attack on Saturday. The officer was forced to fatally shoot the assailant in self-defense, according to Serbia’s interior ministry. Interior Minister Ivica Dacic reported that the attacker fired a bolt at the officer, striking him in the neck. “The officer used his weapon in self-defense to shoot the attacker, who died from his injuries,” Dacic stated.
The injured officer remained conscious while being transported to Belgrade’s main emergency hospital, where he is scheduled to undergo surgery to remove the bolt. The incident highlights the dangers faced by law enforcement officers in their line of duty.
