Several Indian youths have fallen prey to fraudulent job offers in Southeast Asian countries like Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar, lured with promises of positions in digital sales, marketing, customer support, and data entry. Punjab Police’s Cyber Crime Division recently apprehended two travel agents involved in trafficking individuals from Punjab to these nations.

Victims, predominantly from South India, were coerced into working at cyber-scam call centers after their passports were confiscated upon arrival. Gaurav Yadav, Director General of Police Punjab, confirmed the arrests of Amarjeet Singh and Gurjodh Singh, linked to Visa Palace Immigration in Mohali. The crackdown followed a victim’s escape and subsequent contact with the Indian Embassy in Cambodia, prompting investigations under relevant sections of the IPC and Immigration Act.
