In a joint operation on Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army’s 46 Rashtriya Rifles arrested a terrorist associate linked to the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF) in Baramulla district. The suspect, identified as Shakir Ahmad Lone from Dangerpora Sheeri, was apprehended at Eco Park Crossing with a pistol, a magazine, eight pistol rounds, and three hand grenades.
Authorities acted on a tip-off about terrorist activity in the area, leading to a joint patrol that spotted and captured Lone. During preliminary questioning, Lone admitted to being in contact with a Pakistan-based terrorist handler and planning an attack in Baramulla town.
The police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act, and further investigation is ongoing.
