The Hyderabad Police’s Cyber Crime Station has filed an FIR against pro-BJP influencer Raushan Sinha, known as @MrSinha, for allegedly spreading fake news about Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. The FIR was lodged on July 2, following a complaint by Telangana Congress leaders who accused Sinha of distorting Gandhi’s recent Parliament remarks.
The charges against Sinha include intentional insult, promoting enmity, circulating false information, and forgery of electronic records under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to the complaint, Sinha modified Gandhi’s speech, falsely attributing to him the statement, “Those who are Hindus are violent,” instead of his actual words criticizing BJP members.
Congress leader Venkat Naik stated that Sinha’s actions were aimed at provoking Hindus and causing social unrest for political gain. Sinha is notorious for spreading false narratives, particularly targeting the Muslim community on social media.
