Suhasini, a resident of MG Nagar thanda in Chivvemla mandal, Suryapet, died after her husband, Ratnavath Hari Singh, forced her to undergo an abortion. According to Suryapet Superintendent of Police Sunpreet Singh, Hari Singh harassed Suhasini for not giving birth to a male child. When she became pregnant for the third time, he coerced her into a sex determination test, which revealed she was carrying a girl.
He then arranged for an abortion at a private hospital in Mattampally. The procedure failed, worsening her health. Despite being advised to seek better treatment in Hyderabad, her condition deteriorated en route and she was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital in Suryapet. The police have registered a case and an investigation is underway.
