Goa police have apprehended an Iranian national on Monday for his alleged involvement in a series of jewellery store thefts across Goa. Authorities have identified the recent thefts as part of operations carried out by an interstate Iranian gang. Panaji police are actively investigating two separate cases of jewellery theft. According to SP Akshat Kaushal from North Goa, the Panaji town police successfully solved both cases.
“In both instances, two unidentified individuals entered the shops posing as customers interested in purchasing gold and diamond jewellery. They subsequently stole two gold chains and two diamond necklaces with a total worth of Rs 12 lakh,” Kaushal reported. The investigation led to gathering intelligence from various sources, pointing to the involvement of
Abrar Beg, a member of the interstate Iranian gang, and other suspects currently located in Kudachi-Raibag, Belagavi, Karnataka.
